Mother and Child

The Mother & Child Elephant arose from the idea that, without mothers and children, a species would quite simply cease to exist. The artist explains: "The baby elephant symbolises innocence, while the larger, darker elephant symbolises the mother, who is all too aware of the dark world she inhabits. The mother elephant’s only purpose in life is to make sure the baby elephant never loses its innocence. "
