Mission and transparency Elephant Parade donations.
It is Elephant Parade’s mission to become one of the world’s largest financial support organizations for elephants. At the same time Elephant Parade events will attract worldwide attention as well as much needed public awareness and support for the cause of elephant preservation: Elephant Parade elephants will not go unnoticed by the wider public!
It is the mission of Elephant Parade to donate substantial funds to different elephant organizations that help save the elephants from extinction. We need to make people aware of the fact that the Asian elephant could become extinct within a very short period of time if we don’t act now. Organizations that we fund are Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation, the first elephant hospital in the world. We have also funded the corridor project in India in which we have financially supported the Rotterdam Zoo.
Elephant Parade Singapore PTE ltd. was founded by Marc Spits. Marc met with Soraida Salwala, founder of Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation who inspired him to start Elephant Parade and help the Asian elephant. Elephant Parade made substantial investments in design, brand copyrights and registrations in the special elephant designs. Elephant Parade had three distinctive elephants made (jumping, sitting, standing) by Thai artists. The elephants are exclusively copyrighted and design protected by Elephant Parade Singapore. Additionally, the Elephant Parade brand is registered worldwide. All Elephant Parade items are manufactured in Thailand. Manufacturers are not squeezed on price and we approach the Thai manufacturers as partner suppliers with whom we wish to build long lasting business relationships.
Elephant Parade considers the rights and income of the artists. The artists are paid for their artwork and application. Additionally, the city event artists also get a percentage of the auction proceeds.
Elephant Parade Singapore works with local partners to practically organise the Elephant Parade events in a city. The local partners need to take care of PR, sponsor acquisition, local government permits to organize the event, the auction and security of the elephants. Local partners also take on the financial risk of the event.
The auction:
The auction proceeds are distributed according as follows:
Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation – www.elephants-soraida.com (15%), Bring the Elephant Home foundation – www.bring-the-elephant-home.nl (5%), Elephant Parade Singapore PTE Ltd. to cover design, registration, development costs (15%), the event artists –www.xxlart.com (15%), local zoo elephant projects – www.zooantwerpen.be (10%), local event organizing partner to cover operational costs, out-of-pocket costs, salaries, risk, vandalism, logistics, insurance, etc. (40%)
Exhibition
The sponsor income of approximately €6000 per full-size elephant covers for a part the costs incurred in sponsor acquisition, the production, shipping, installment of the elephants, logistics after the event, security of the elephants, reparation of the elephants after vandalism, cleaning of the elephants, etc. Additionally, the project carries certain risks because not all elephants are always sponsored which means that the local event organizer is responsible for the possible deficit. Additionally, the proceeds of the auction can compensate the lack of sufficient sponsors for the local event organiser.
