Elephant Parade Nantes

Enjoy the festive season at Les Machines de l'île

Elephant Parade is overjoyed to announce that we are coming to Nantes, France. With thanks to our hosting partner, Les Machines de l'île, 23 elephants will be on display to raise awareness for elephant conservation at their magnificent Dubigeon warehouse.

Les Machines de l'île is an unprecedented project. A product of François Delaroziere and Pierre Orefice's collective imagination. It is the only place where you'll find Jules Verne's "Invented Worlds," the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci, and Nantes' industrial history, all on the exceptional site of the city's former shipyards.

Some strange mechanical objects came to populate the Île de Nantes. A Grand éléphant, a Manta Ray, a Sea Snake and of all kinds of incredible boats, designed by La Machine, take possession of the banks of the Loire River in the Carrousel des Mondes Marins. They convey a mysterious reality to this island just like the time when vessels were launched there for all the trips of the world.

From 21st December 2019 to 5th January 2020, prepare yourselves for "Noël aux Nefs", a festive Christmas extravaganza. Stunning visuals and lights, mixed with the pleasant smell of pine trees and holiday fragrances. Winter warming delicacies, such as hot chocolate, marshmallows, spiced wine and waffles, will be on sale.

Be sure to take a look at the public painting of three, new 1.5 metres, Elephant Parade statues during the event.

4 artists invited to paint 3 elephants, Mika, Stéphan Muntaner, Adrien Burnet, and Pedro.

  • Stéphan - 19th to 22nd December
  • Pedro - 27th to 29th December
  • Mika - 2nd to 4th January
