My first encounter with an elephant was in, out of all places,
Amsterdam Zoo on a Sunday afternoon. I was only two and a
half years old, the elephant was walking freely around with her
caretaker which still was possible by that time. She stopped in
front of me and pushed me a bit with her trunk, from that moment
there was an instant bond and I was able to “read” her mind.
